Rockingham News

The City of Rockingham has implemented the first of several interventions. The cooling subsidy scheme is now live, this intervention will give folks the opportunity to receive reimbursement for the purchase of cooling items. The Heat Vulnerability Project team has extended funding on the subsidy scheme as it was so intently utilized in the early summer months.

Heatwave Ready Workshops were conducted at various community locations around the City of Rockingham in November/December 2024.

Our purpose made cooling packs have been designed through community consultation and will be handed out at community events – they include water bottles, insulated tote bags, sunscreen, bucket hats, cooling towels and keep cool resources.

Cool spaces are now LIVE at libraries across the City of Rockingham area, these spaces will go to special lengths to ensure the safety of residents during days where the temperature is 35 degrees or above.
