Carole Green
Project Manager
Carole Green comes to the Heat Vulnerability Project with a background of researching climate change impacts on public health. Her public health background ranges from her work on the COVID vaccine and information to more marginalized groups to her global research on public health indicators of climate adaptation through the Lancet Countdown. She was the 2023 Gilbert S. Omenn Award for Academic Excellence for her master’s degree in public health. In her personal life she enjoys being with people and getting outside as much as possible.
Jacob West
Project & Communications Officer
Jacob brings a rich background to the Heat Vulnerability Project, combining a deep commitment to caring for country with expertise in climate research and the integration of First Nations practices with Western academic approaches. His diverse experience spans tertiary mental health settings, youth work centers, residential care, and research institutes. Jacob is particularly passionate about how diverse communities can be recognized and supported in resilience and recovery policy planning. Before shifting careers in 2020, he honed his skills as a chef, working in kitchens across the state from the age of 14.
The project also has extensive partnerships across the sector, including with Department of Communities, Department of Health, and the Bureau of Meteorology. These state-wide partnerships make up the strategic and working groups that guide this project’s development and outcomes. The project also works directly with local governments and community organisations in each of the pilot sites, the project also consults directly with community to hear their needs. These guide and facilitate the project’s work in each of the pilot sites.
