The team has been working with the Bridgetown/Greenbushes local government to develop interventions. These interventions have been co-created with community and have begun to be implemented. Trees have been planted for shade as well as a bench that has been co-located, water fountains and shade sails have been installed and are having great community engagement. Cool space and volunteer training took place in early November 2024 with services ready to mobilize over the summer period to activate existing community centres as cooling spaces and for a volunteer heatwave call out service to notify community when extreme heat is underway.
Cool spaces are now active for days above 35 Degrees at the Bridgetown Hub, Bridgetown Library, Greenbushes and Bridgetown Community Resource Centres.
