The Heat Vulnerability Project team has been working intently with The Youth Involvement Council to develop and implement children’s/youth education programs around the effects of high heat. Our first session “Heat and my body” was held on the 5th of November in South Hedland (Kariyarra Country) – we went through activities to explain to the young people how heat effects your body. There are four more lessons coming up, one around keep cool techniques, one around how to make electrolytes, a mindfulness session and a session led by Kariyarra Elders
The Heat Project team also did a session at the WellWomens Centre focused around keeping mothers and babies safe in times of high heat.
